December 21st 2023
On the evening of December 18, 2023, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Jishishan County, Gansu Province, causing significant damage and bringing great hardship to the local residents. Upon learning about the shortage of supplies in the affected area, our company promptly took action to procure essential items, including over 400 blankets, 100 packs of instant noodles, and 200 bottles of mineral water. With assistance from the government, we reached out to the Gansu Red Cross. The company's general manager, Shi Yazhao personally led a team that braved temperatures as low as -20°C and drove non-stop for more than 20 hours covering a distance of 1,800 kilometers before arriving in Jishishan County on the afternoon of the 21st.
At around 7:30 p.m., upon arriving in the county, we promptly followed government coordination to expedite delivering relief supplies to township authorities. Unloading blankets and other essential items from trucks swiftly, we successfully completed our donation task by 9 p.m. Despite exhaustion from a long journey and continuous work, witnessing volunteers' smiles as they distributed supplies rejuvenated us.
The manager said: "When disaster strikes, help comes from all sides because we Chinese people are one family with blood being thicker than water. As representatives of Tangshan City, we extend thanks for support during our earthquake ordeal. Today Gansu faces the same challenges; it's incumbent upon us to contribute towards alleviating supply shortages in affected areas through humble efforts. Our heartfelt wish is for swift recovery for those impacted by this disaster so they may actively participate in post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
